... some nights I sit down to write and feel like there's too much to say, some nights, like tonight, I feel kind of "quiet" (hard to believe if you know me, I know!!) . . .
Not quiet in a bad way either, just quiet as in it was a peaceful day, fairly "quiet", not overly "emotional", work was good, the day was quite "normal" and then, BANG, as I sit down and LISTEN to what God has for me, He makes it clear that even on a "quiet" day, blessings abound and He is just waiting to speak something special to me. Yet another REMINDER that HE is taking care of every single detail!
One cute moment from tonight was a conversation between Taya & cousin Daisy at the basketball game. They were discussing people they knew who had met people who were famous. So because they knew the people who knew the people who met the people, they "kind of" met the famous people too . . . did you follow THAT line of thinking??!! (at one point Daisy mentioned that someone had met the President, and when I asked her which one,she waved her hand and replied "the bad one"!!) Anyway, they were sharing who knew who that had met who, and Taya came back with the best one-liner of the night . . . "well, my DAD met JESUS!" Ah, that is a precious moment for this mama! Knowing that even in the midst of the sadness that Daddy is no longer here with us, my girl realizes the glorious truth that Daddy met JESUS!!
As I settled in tonight, I quickly checked in on the "goings-on" on Facebook - I love catching up and checking out what is going on with everyone on my "friends" list!
Tonight, as I scrolled through status updates, my attention was captured by our dear friend Shasta's status, "The Lord is my chosen portion and cup; You hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places, indeed I have a beautiful inheritance." Psalm 16:5
I liked that, YOU (Lord) hold my lot - that means HE does hold my place in life - no mistakes - no forgotten moments - no surprises to HIM - He holds my lot and INDEED I have a beautiful inheritance. I liked it SO MUCH that I quickly read the entire chapter of Psalm 16, the last verse (11) says, "You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore."!! Pretty neat verses and promises if you ask me! In Your presence is fullness of joy (joy even in the midst of sorrow, joy even in the unknown, joy because He holds our lives in His hands), at your right hand are pleasures forevermore (pleasures if I rest there, at His right hand, pleasures even in this finding of a "new normal", pleasures because HE loves us more than we can ever imagine!)
But, that wasn't the end of God speaking. I opened my devotional before getting on here to write and read Stay ever so close to Me, and you will not deviate from the path I have prepared for you. This is the most efficient way to stay on track; it is also the most enjoyable way. . . . I provide the Joy; your part is to glorify Me by living close to Me. And the 3 verses referenced were Deuteronomy 6:5, Colossians 3:23 and PSALM 16:11. The EXACT passage I had just looked over after reading Shasta's Facebook status!! :) Yep, it's a GOD THING . . . He is involved in EVERY SINGLE LITTLE detail of my life - right down to what my friends are posting on Facebook!! :)
So, tonight, I will again lie down and sleep peacefully, knowing that every detail of our lives are really "God things" and He will never let us go! He will bring us fullness of Joy and pleasures at His right hand!
I love it!!!
